The Sultanate of Oman intends to diversify its economy from dependence on the Oil & Gas to manufacturing and knowledge based industries. In this context it has created the Sohar industrial Area for a multitude of Oil & Gas based projects. One of the fundamental goals of the Oman Economic Vision 2020 is the development of a private sector capable of optimum use of human and natural resources in an efficient and ecologically-sound way
As per this Vision the industrial sector; and especially gas-based industries would play a vital role to achieve the Oman’s future economic objectives.
The Oman Polypropylene LLC (OPP) plant and the Sohar Refinery which produces its feedstock were conceived as value addition to the crude and long residue from existing refinery. The OPP plant is also meant to serve as a platform for further downstream polypropylene converting industries to create jobs and business opportunities.   The Oman Polypropylene’s plant in Sahar is perceived as a seed for the development of major future petrochemicals players. We aim to be a reputable global provider with diversified portfolio and excellent customer support. We also aim to ensure continuous improvement to maximize stakeholders’ value through profit improvement and business expansion. One of our major goals is to promote and encourage local industry growth. We aim to improve local community and preserve the environment. Oman Polypropylene LLC (OPP) has successfully completed the commissioning of its brand new plant and started its commercial production. It has also launched its marketing and sales campaign back in November 2006. The OPP brand name; LUBAN (means frankincense in Arabic) has been received well in the market of different countries.
